Leontopodium ‘Blossom of Snow’ (Eidelweiss)

Furry, silver-grey foliage is soft to the touch on this beautiful perennial. An abundance of large, showy, lightly fragranced blooms will smother the foliage throughout summer. They are excellent as scented cut flowers and perfect for planting in containers and rock gardens.

Prefers full sun and free draining soil. Protect from winter wet.

Leptinella ‘Platt’s Black’

This is an unusual ground cover perennial with miniature fern-like foliage that changes from brown to green to black depending on how much sun gets to it. The best foliage is a mix of colours when planted in dappled shade. It has insignificant bobbly flowers in summer.

Leucanthemum ‘Crazy Daisy’

No two blooms are alike on this fringed and frilly, semi to fully double Shasta Daisy. Two inch wide, solid white petals surround a small buttery yellow centre. This selection is noted for its prolific flowering. An all-time favourite for the perennial border, the cheery flowers begin to appear in early summer and continue on for several months if faithfully deadheaded, and mix so effortlessly with other perennials that no garden should be without them!

These bulbs are similar in looks to the snowdrop, but larger in stature and flowering a couple of months later, this elegant plant produces large, white bell-shaped flowers, each with green tips to the pointed petals. It’s easy to grow and will reliably put on a great display.

Libertia chilensis

This reliable and long-lived, evergreen perennial provides attractive vertical accents to a planting scheme. Sword like leaves encircle slender wiry stems on which simple pure white flowers open progressively up each stem to culminate in a fine airy show. Associates well with fine grasses or with simple daisies in the front of a border.

Lilium ‘Curley Sue’

Soft pink waxy petals, recurved towards their pointed tips and lightly freckled with maroon, frame the prominent orange stamens. Impressive and elegant in early summer, this lily will also fill your borders (or your room if they are cut for the vase) with their deliciously sweet perfume.

Liriodendron tulipifera

This is a large, fast growing and long-lived tree with a dead straight trunk. The crown is narrow early on but later develops to conical. It’s unique feature is the deciduous foliage; a glossy green leaf with four lobes and appearing to have been cut off at the top. In autumn the colour is fantastic as it turns shades of golden yellows. In early summer exquisite Tulip-shaped flowers are produced followed by conical fruits consisting of many winged nutlets pressed together in a spiral. Also the light grey corky bark often forms intricate patterns of vertical ridges…all in all a great tree!

This is a tall clump forming perennial with spikes of beautiful pink flowers and mid-green lance-shaped leaves. Flowers in throughout summer and is one of the best and longest flowering lobelias for the back of the border.
