Pinus radiata

Pinus radiata

Pinus radiata has wonderful, tactile, long green needles and large cones up to 17cm in length. In the wild, Pinus radiata is adapted to thrive after forest fires, with the heat triggering the cones to open and disperse seeds for regeneration. It is a reasonably vigorous, evergreen conifer, broadly oval when young and maturing into a lovely irregular shape with the reddish-brown bark becoming thick with attractive deep furrows. Particularly suitable for medium to large gardens.

Prefers full sun and a free draining soil.
